Do You Feel The Need For Speed?
I don't know about you, but personally if a website doesn't load quickly enough or get me somewhere I want to go quickly enough..... I give up. Someone else will probably be able to give me what I was looking for anyway.
Now Google feel the same way. In April 2010, they decided that it was about time that they include site speed into their algorithm scoring. Web managers you need to take note and action if your website is very slow!
From Google's point of view they recognise that faster websites make for happy internet users, and their internal studies show that slow websites have shorter visitor times than the fast websites.
However, site speed is only complimenting the other algorithm tests that Google rank sites on. Relevance of page is still king, so you need to remember the keywords and key phrases that are relevant to your company and products as well as what people are actually looking for.
There are a number of online tools that you can use and we recommend to check your site's speed. These include Zoompf (http://zoompf.com/free), Googles PageSpeed (http://code.google.com/speed/page-speed/), or Yslow (http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/) from Yahoo!
