Marilyn has certainly made the most of her qualifications in languages, business management and accounting, having spent many exciting years in Switzerland, Germany and Belgium.
She fell in love with skiing in her homeland of Scotland, in the days of wooden skis and cable bindings, despite the horizontal rain. The temptations of Swiss chocolate, fondue and skiing in sunshine proved too much to resist, and at 19 she moved to Switzerland to work as PA to a Financial Controller and put those languages to good use.
Marilyn's extensive experience as an international PA/Executive Assistant includes positions as Sports Controller with the Federation Equestre Internationale, and as PA to Baroness Ullens de Schooten in Brussels – a sugar baron family. Returning to the UK, she became Estates Manager for Hestair Recruitment PLC – opening 35 new branches throughout the UK in one year. Never one to take things easy, Marilyn had the drive to continue her challenging career, whilst also juggling motherhood. Embracing new technology she was not only a founder member of the Association of Teleworkers, but also established herself as one of the first Virtual Assistants in the UK for a host of international clients. Driven by this fascination for technology and the internet Marilyn constantly hones her skill set and has developed an in depth knowledge of SEO, Online PR and Social Media.
Marilyn brings a wealth and diversity of experience, knowledge and skills coupled with an insatiable thirst for knowledge to the Branch Communications team. When not working on client accounts Marilyn likes nothing better than to surf the net searching and planning for her Gap year, where she will boldly go armed with iPad, iPhone or whatever the latest technology is to enable her to keep in contact with her family and friends yet indulge her passion for world travel and practicing yoga and pilates in the most exotic locations.
